In 1973, Harco National Insurance Company was formed by a major truck manufacturer to ensure that dependable, competitively priced Physical Damage insurance would be available to the customers of its dealers.

More than thirty years later, Harco has become one of the most widely respected and emulated providers of transportation-related insurance in the country, with a range of products targeted especially for truck and auto dealers and their customers.

In late 2001, Harco was purchased by IAT Reinsurance Company Ltd. Harco's parent has assets of over $1 billion and is also an insurance holding company with a number of insurance subsidiaries. IAT's financial strength backs up its commitment for Harco to continue developing its core business: providing insurance products focused on the transportation industry.

Both Harco and its parent are rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best. The company has enjoyed a lengthy record of net operating gains and has a solid, conservative reinsurance program in place. Most reinsurers participating in the Harco reinsurance program hold a Best rating of Excellent or better.
